Lions once were populated from Senegal to Nigeria, it was a distance of more than 2,400 km. The new survey has found that an estimated total of 250 adult lions occupying less than one percent of their original historic range. The lions now are isolated in four regions across Africa: one in Senegal; two in Nigeria; and a fourth on the borders of Benin, Niger, and Burkina Faso. Only fourth isolated region’s population has more than 50 lions.
